What is an EU Blue Card?

The European Union created the EU Blue Card as a special residence permit for highly qualified foreign professionals. Receipt of an EU Blue Card enables the holder to live in the respective country of issue, to pursue gainful employment and to move freely within the territory of the European Union.

By facilitating and promoting the labor migration of highly qualified specialists with the Blue Card, the European labor market, which is characterized by a shortage of personnel, is to be relieved.
